The Current River Sheltered Workshop derives income from four sources
1) Grants from the Ripley County Productive Living Board
2) Payments from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
3) Grants and donations from other state agencies and private sources
4) Earned income from productive work, sales and services provided by the certified employees
There are two primary ways our local community can help the Sheltered Workshop
1) Bring donations of high quality furniture, clothing, other items and even cash to the workshop. Please do not bring broken or useless items. And shop as often as possible at the Resale Store.
2) Bring meaningful jobs to the workshop. Many businesses in Ripley County (or beyond) have jobs that they would be willing to pay $6 to $10 per hour to perform (significantly lower than Missouri minimum wage). Businesses can have a significant impact on helping our developmentally disabled citizens by using the Workshop as a source of lower cost labor.
